PRELIMINARY KWC 2018 WORLD ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN THE COMPETITION!

Helsinki Finland May 12th 2018

The Karaoke World Championships Organization announces new updated rules and guidelines for the 2018 competition season.  The newly implemented guidelines are as follows:

1.) Changes in scoring: Scores will be released after each round. That way every singer will know their ranking after rounds 1, 2 and 3 and will be able to react to improve on their next performance. There will also be a change to the multiplying effect on round 2 & 3 scores putting more weight on Round 2 and Round 3.

The final round (Top 10) will be without points from previous rounds. Points from the public vote will also be added on to Round 2 scores.

2.) Amateur status: Every singer is eligible to participate if they are not making a living with singing or have a record deal at this very moment. Singers with record releases from years ago (also including recent indie releases on Spotify etc.) are welcome.

3.) Champions Round: There is a brand new category in the KWC competition- KWC Champions is a special competition for all of our past country champions. Anyone who has ever represented their country in KWC finals is eligible, past winners are included. In 2018 every partner country is allowed to send one singer to KWC Champions, and there will be 3 Champions rounds in KWC 2018.

4.) A single World Champion!: Starting this year, only one World Champion will be crowned meaning there will no longer be a separate champion for males and females!

Our goal is to discover and promote the best amateur singer in the world regardless of gender.

Every partner country is still allowed to send two singers, but they can be of any gender and they will all compete against each other for the championship.

There will be three categories in the KWC 2018 World Finals: KWC Solo, KWC Duets and KWC Champions.

USA BOASTS RECORD BREAKING YEAR AT THE 2017 KWC WORLD FINALS!

Helsinki Finland November 14th -18th

After an incredible competition year for the United States in the Karaoke World Championships, with hundreds of contestants from over a dozen states battling it out to gain the title “best karaoke singer in the nation”, the US is making history yet again by earning placements in all participating categories.  In the 15th anniversary of the Karaoke World Championships, Team USA faced tough competition against an internationally diverse group of the most talented singers from all over the world. The US has much to celebrate after this year’s event by claiming victory in earning medals in all three competing categories, male division, female division, & duet division.   Our US female champion, Chyee Howell, delivered stunning and powerful performances each time she took the stage to earn the Gold Medal 1st place ranking for the US this year in the female division.  Our US male champion, Andy Navarrete, performed vocally strong and emotionally charged renditions of his songs earning the Bronze Medal 3rd place ranking for the US in the male division this year.  In the second ever duets division the United States went up against some amazing examples of the most synchronized duos from around the globe all vying for that top position.  Our US Duet Team, comprised of Mikko Blaze Bordeaux and Beth Brennan, showed they had what it takes to create harmonious magic on stage earning the Silver Medal 2nd place ranking this year for the United States.  When asked about their experience with the KWC this year US World partners, Josh and Catie Baron have said, “We have been honored to work together throughout the 2017 contest season, and to have had the ability to provide an opportunity for amateur singers of all walks of life a chance at being heard on the world stage.  Our first year as KWC country partners would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of so many talented people along the way, from our State Directors, to sponsor venues, to local karaoke hosts, to the competing singers themselves.  We are so very thankful to everyone who put in their time and passion to assist us in finding our US representatives this year.  We are looking forward to working with many of them again and seeing the KWCUSA getting bigger and better in our quest for the Gold at the 2018 KWC World Finals in Malaga Spain.”

USA WINS GOLD IN PARTNERS CHALLENGE!

Helsinki Finland November 16th 2017

Most of you know about the varying levels of the Karaoke World Championships competition with solos, duets, juniors, however there is a little known portion of the KWC World Finals Event known as the Partners Challenge.  Each year, one world partner representative from each country is invited to compete against other world partners in a mini challenge held at one of the many after parties held.  This slightly more informal portion of the competition is judged by the country finalists so the competition can be just as tough as the main events as each partner is in it to win it.  Last year the US did quite well earning a bronze 3rd place ranking in Vancouver BC.  This year US World Partner Josh Baron wanted to improve on that ranking and did so earning the Gold Medal 1st place ranking for the USA!
